CAPABILITY · DATA
AGI data analyst: from spreadsheet to clear insight.
An AGI data analyst should show you the working, not just the conclusion. Zeus AGI cleans the file, profiles it, writes the queries or scripts, builds the charts and writes the report, and every number can be traced back to the step that produced it. The data stays in your files on your machine, and the output is yours to hand on to whoever needs it. The analysis and the explanation travel together.
WHAT IT DOES
What this AGI data analyst does with your data
Most analysis is spent before the analysis. The file has three date formats, two spellings of the same customer name, a column of totals that does not add up and a sheet of notes that only the person who made it understands. Cleaning is not a preliminary chore; it is where most of the judgement lives, because every decision about what to keep and what to correct changes the answer that follows.
The agent profiles the data before it touches it. It reads the columns, the types, the ranges and the gaps, and it reports what it found: the missing values, the duplicates, the outliers that look like entry errors and the fields that will cause trouble later. That profile is the first deliverable, because a dataset that is not understood cannot be analysed honestly.
Analysis comes next and it is written in code that can be read. Queries and scripts are saved in the project, not hidden behind a button, so the result can be reproduced by anyone with the file. Charts are built to answer a question, with axes and labels that a person outside the work can follow, rather than to fill space with colour. The report is written last, in plain language, with the findings, the caveats and the next question.
The distinguishing feature is that the working is visible. A number in the summary can be traced to the formula, query or step that produced it, and the assumptions behind each step are written down rather than assumed. That is what turns analysis into evidence: a reader can disagree with the method and check the arithmetic instead of having to trust the conclusion.
The honest limits are worth naming. Data quality in is data quality out, and a clean analysis of the wrong sample is still wrong. The agent can describe what the data shows and what it does not, but it cannot supply business context it was not given, and it will not dress a correlation up as a cause without the evidence to support it.
The profile also sets up the questions. Once the columns are understood, the agent proposes the analysis that the data can actually support and says what it cannot answer with the information available. That step alone prevents the most common failure in reporting: answering a question the dataset was never designed to address, with a chart that looks convincing and a conclusion that cannot be defended.
- A data profile covering types, ranges, gaps, duplicates and outliers
- Cleaning decisions recorded, not silently applied
- Queries and scripts saved so the result can be reproduced
- Charts built around a question rather than around decoration
- A plain-language report with findings, caveats and next questions
- Numbers traceable to the step that produced them
- Business context requested where the data alone cannot supply it
- No hidden transformations and no unexplained figures
HOW IT WORKS
From CSV to decision in four steps
01
Load and profile
The file is read and described before it is changed: column types, ranges, missing values, duplicates and the outliers that look like mistakes. The profile is shared so the cleaning decisions are visible. The profile is shared before the cleaning starts.
02
Clean
Dates are normalised, names are matched, blanks are handled and duplicated records are resolved against a rule rather than by instinct. Every decision is recorded so the cleaned file can be explained and reversed. A rule is written down for every correction made.
03
Analyse and chart
The questions are answered in code that can be rerun. Charts are built to show the answer and the comparison that matters, with labels a reader outside the analysis can follow without a guide. The chart and the query live in the same folder.
04
Report
The findings are written in plain language with the caveats attached. The report names what the data supports, what it does not and what would be needed to go further. The whole folder is handed over ready to defend. The folder is ready before the meeting starts.
FILES AND FORMATS
Files and formats it handles
Spreadsheets
Workbooks with several sheets, formulas and mixed types, read and cleaned without losing the structure that makes them useful to the person who maintains them.
CSV and delimited files
Exports from systems that disagree about quotes, delimiters, encodings and dates, normalised into a single shape that can be analysed reliably before any chart is trusted.
JSON and API exports
Nested records flattened into tables, with the fields that matter kept and the noise removed, so the result can be charted and compared with a note of what was dropped.
SQL and databases
Queries written against a database, with the schema read first and the result saved alongside the query that produced it, so the origin of every number is clear.
Messy operational exports
Log files, reports from several systems and files with a title row above the real header, cleaned into something a reproducible analysis can use. That is most operational data.
Recurring reports
The same analysis rebuilt on a schedule as new data arrives, so the report is a standing answer rather than a monthly scramble. The definitions travel with the report.
THE DIFFERENCE
AGI data analyst vs a spreadsheet and a dashboard
A spreadsheet is a tool and a dashboard is a view. Neither is an analysis. The gap between them is the work of cleaning, choosing the method, explaining the caveat and writing down what the number actually means. The reader needs the reasoning as much as the result.
Spreadsheets and dashboards
- Hold data and formulas, but make the reasoning invisible behind a cell reference.
- Depend on someone remembering why a column was changed or removed.
- Show a chart without the question it was built to answer in the first place.
- Break quietly when a new export changes a column name or a date format.
- Leave the written explanation as a separate job for somebody else later.
- Publish a number without the caveat that belongs next to it.
Zeus AGI
- Records the cleaning decisions and the assumptions behind every step taken.
- Keeps the query or script so the whole result can be rerun and checked.
- Builds each chart to answer a question that is stated in the brief.
- Handles the format changes and reports exactly what it normalised.
- Writes the report as part of the analysis, not as an afterthought.
- Attaches the caveat to the number it applies to, in the same place.
THE WORKING
The working shown
A report that says revenue grew without saying how revenue was defined is not a finding. It is a sentence with a number in it. The agent writes down the definitions it used, the rows it excluded and the period it measured, so the reader can see the shape of the claim before deciding whether to believe it.
Reproducibility is part of the standard. The cleaned data, the code and the report live together in the project folder, which means the analysis can be run again when the data is refreshed or the method is questioned. That is a higher bar than most spreadsheet reporting clears, and it is the bar that makes the work defensible in a meeting where someone asks how you know.
Automation extends the same discipline over time. A report that runs on a schedule keeps its definitions and its checks, so the second edition is consistent with the first rather than a fresh interpretation of a new export. When something changes, the run says so instead of quietly producing a different kind of number.
The limits stay honest. The agent can analyse what it is given, describe what it shows and write the caveat that belongs with it. It cannot invent the context that makes a number important, and it cannot decide for you what the business should do about the result. The judgement stays with the person who owns the decision.
Delivery matters as much as the calculation. A report is read by people who did not do the analysis, so the agent writes the summary first, the method second and the appendix third, with the numbers that support each claim close to the sentence that makes it. A reader should be able to stop at any point and still know what the document is telling them and how much to trust it.
- Definitions written down before the numbers are calculated
- Exclusions and assumptions recorded next to the result
- Cleaned data, code and report kept together
- Scheduled reports that stay consistent with the first edition
- Correlations reported as correlations, never as causes
- Business judgement left with the person who owns the decision
BEYOND THIS
One capability, not the edge of the map
Data is one of unlimited domains, and it is rarely the last step. The analysis feeds a report, the report feeds a decision, the decision feeds a page or a plan. Zeus AGI carries the context forward, so the definitions used in the analysis are the same ones used in the writing that follows. Good analysis is remembered by the decision it changed, not by the chart.
This is one example. The skill and MCP system means the next domain is a request away. Zeus AGI acquires new skills and connects MCP servers, so a capability it does not ship with today can be added when the work calls for it. Describe the outcome on the anything page, read how invention is handled in beyond, and see the full map in capabilities. The data analyst inherits the definitions instead of re-deriving them.
The list is not a boundary. Unlimited domains are examples of what the intelligence can do now. The real constraint is the quality of the data and the quality of the question, and both are worth more attention than any chart. That is why the profile comes before the picture.
- Anything: describe an outcome that is not on any capability page
- Beyond: invention, prototypes and repair work across domains
- Capabilities: the domains and what each one covers in practice
FAQ
Questions, answered.
Short, direct answers. If yours is missing, the full FAQ page has more.
It reads the workbook before changing anything: the sheets, the types, the formulas, the gaps and the duplicates. Then it cleans the data, answers the questions in code that can be rerun, builds the charts and writes the report in plain language. The original file is preserved and every transformation is recorded, so the result can be explained to someone who was not there. The original file is never overwritten.
Yes. Charts are built to answer a stated question, with axes, labels and comparisons a reader outside the analysis can follow. The report is written in plain language and delivered with the charts, the assumptions and the caveats. A chart without its question is decoration, so the question is part of the brief and part of the deliverable. Each chart carries the question that justified it.
It does, and that is the point of the design. Cleaning decisions are recorded, queries and scripts are saved, definitions are written down and each number can be traced to the step that produced it. A reader can therefore disagree with the method and check the arithmetic rather than having to trust a summary sentence about a black box. A rerun is the simplest test of whether the working was real.
Yes, and cleaning is treated as analysis rather than as housekeeping. Dates in several formats, duplicate records, inconsistent names, blanks and outliers are identified and resolved against a stated rule, with each decision recorded. The profile of the data is shared before the cleaning, so the judgement behind the result is visible to the person who owns it. The profile makes the judgement visible before the cleaning.
It can. The same analysis can be rebuilt on a schedule as new data arrives, keeping its definitions and checks so each edition is consistent with the last. When the input changes shape or a check fails, the run says so rather than quietly producing a different kind of number. That is how reporting becomes a standing answer instead of a monthly scramble. Consistency between editions is the point of scheduling it.
The files stay in the project folder on your machine, and the cleaned data, code and report live together beside them. The model you use for the analysis is your choice: a hosted provider receives the context it needs under its terms, while a local model keeps the work on your hardware. Sensitive datasets can be handled without being shipped to a workspace you do not control. Moving a sensitive dataset is a decision, not a default.
No. The agent writes the queries and scripts itself, and it saves them so the result can be reproduced and reviewed. Knowing SQL or Python helps if you want to read the working in detail or maintain it yourself, but the point of an AGI data analyst is that the technical route is not a prerequisite for asking a good question of your own data. Asking a good question is the valuable skill, not typing the query.
BEYOND THIS

Zeus AGI acquires the skills it needs and connects MCP servers, so the scope is not a fixed feature list. If the work is digital or device based, it is in scope.
Bring a dataset.
Bring the file and the question it should answer. The first deliverable is a profile of the data and an honest account of what it can support.
