DEVICES
AGI for devices: set up, repair, diagnose.
AGI for devices covers the software side of the hardware you rely on: Zeus AGI sets up the machine, traces the fault, fixes the configuration and proves the result with a test, from desktops and laptops to printers, networks, phones and tablets. When the fault is physical, it says so and hands over a diagnosis a technician can use.
WHAT IT COVERS
AGI for devices: the software side of the machine
Devices are where the digital world meets the desk. A new laptop arrives with accounts, drivers, software and settings to configure. A printer refuses to appear on the network. A phone holds years of data that need to move to a new one. A home office has a router, a switch, a camera and a backup drive that all need to agree with each other. These are software-shaped problems in hardware-shaped objects.
Zeus AGI works on that software side: operating system configuration, drivers, updates, permissions, network settings, accounts, storage, backups and the applications that tie them together. It reads what the machine reports, changes what the evidence points to and tests the result by using the device rather than by trusting a status light.
The scope is broad on purpose. A desktop, a laptop, a tablet, a phone, a printer, a scanner, a router, a smart home device or a piece of lab equipment with a network port: if the device exposes a software interface and the work can be verified, it can be approached. The device domain is not a list of models. It is a method for any machine that can be reasoned about.
That matters most when the devices are many. Setting up one laptop is a chore. Setting up twenty for a small office, documenting each one, checking the backups and writing the handover is a project. The same intelligence can plan the rollout, work through the machines and produce a record of what was configured and what was tested.
The device domain also connects to the others. A network problem can become a server check. A slow machine can become a configuration review. A phone migration can produce a data report. The work rarely stays inside one box, which is exactly why a general intelligence is a better fit than a single-purpose utility.
The setup record is the quiet deliverable of device work. A machine that was configured without notes becomes a mystery the second time it fails. A machine configured with a record, the software versions, the network settings, the backup path and the test that confirmed it, can be rebuilt or handed over without guesswork. That record is what turns one setup into a repeatable standard for the next device.
- Windows setup, drivers, updates, accounts and permissions.
- Printers, scanners, peripherals and the queues that connect them.
- Home and small office networks, routers, switches and access points.
- Data migration and backup checks for phones, tablets and computers.
- Device inventories, setup records and handover documentation.
- Device state, setup records and handover notes kept with the work.
HOW IT WORKS
Diagnose, configure and verify
01
Describe the symptom
You say what the device does and what you have tried: it is slow, it will not print, it cannot see the network, the new machine will not sign in. Symptoms are the start of the evidence, not a diagnosis. The symptom is the first piece of evidence, and it is yours to describe.
02
Read the signals
The agent inspects the device state: logs, drivers, services, network configuration, permissions and the settings that connect the parts. It compares what the machine reports with what the symptom suggests and narrows the fault before changing anything. The inspection is read-only until the cause is named.
03
Configure or repair
The fix follows the evidence: a driver, a setting, a permission, a queue, a profile or a configuration file. Where a change is hard to reverse, it waits for approval. The devices are yours, and the agent works as the operator, not as the owner. The change is small enough to reverse if the device objects.
04
Test the device in use
Verification means using the device for the thing it was meant to do: print the page, connect the call, open the file, move the data, reach the network. The report states what was tested and what remains uncertain. The test uses the device for its actual work, not for a status panel.
IN PRACTICE
What device work looks like
A new computer setup
Configure the accounts, drivers, updates, software and backup path, then test the machine with the work it will actually do and document the build. The document is the second half of the setup. The record is the second deliverable. It is kept with the machine record.
A slow laptop
Read startup, storage, memory and background load, remove or reconfigure the cause the evidence names, then measure the change against the same conditions. The measurement uses the same conditions before and after.
A printer that vanished
Trace the queue, the driver, the network route and the device state, restore the connection and print a test page to prove the fix. The test page is the proof, not the print dialogue.
A phone migration
Move the accounts, contacts, photos and messages that can be moved, check the backups on both devices and report what transferred and what did not. The report names what could not be moved.
A small office network
Document the topology, check the router and switch settings, fix the addressing or the access issue and verify each critical device can reach what it needs. Each critical device gets its own check. A network that is documented is a network that can be supported.
A device inventory
Walk the estate, record models, serials, software state and age, and produce the spreadsheet and the open questions that a replacement plan needs. The inventory lists what is missing as well as what exists.
THE DIFFERENCE
A support script versus a device diagnosis
A script asks you to try the same five steps as everyone else. A diagnosis looks at your machine, your settings and your evidence. The second one is slower to start and much faster to finish.
Scripted support
- The same checklist for every machine.
- You repeat steps you have already tried.
- The evidence is whatever you can describe.
- The last resort is always a reinstall.
- The fix is unrecorded and unrepeatable.
AGI for devices
- Reads the actual state of this machine.
- Skips what is already ruled out by evidence.
- Collects logs, settings and checks directly.
- Fixes the named cause before considering a rebuild.
- Records the fault and the verification for next time.
HONEST LIMITS
Where the software fix stops
A device is physical, and physics has the final word. A failing drive, a swollen battery, a cracked screen, a dead port or a fan that no longer turns are not configuration problems. The agent can confirm the symptoms, document what the machine reports and prepare the case for a repair, but it cannot replace the part or restore a component that has failed.
Some work also belongs with the maker or the network. A fault inside a device’s firmware, a warranty process, a mobile carrier’s provisioning or a provider’s line quality are outside the machine. The agent can gather the evidence that makes those conversations short and specific, and it will name the boundary rather than pretend the fix is local.
Data recovery is a professional service when the storage itself is failing. Software recovery on a copy is fair; reading a dying disk as a first move is not. The agent takes the safe route, protects the original and says when the case needs a specialist with the equipment for it.
None of this weakens the value. Most device work is software, settings and evidence, and most of it is done badly because nobody has the time to read the state of the machine. Doing that part properly, and being clear about the part that needs hands, is what makes the domain useful.
The honest position is that a device is a partnership between software and matter. The agent is excellent at the software half, precise about the evidence and useless at the soldering iron. A user who knows which half they are dealing with gets a faster fix and a shorter conversation with a technician.
- Hardware faults are diagnosed and handed to a repair professional.
- Warranty and carrier matters are prepared for, not impersonated.
- Failing storage is copied safely before any recovery attempt.
- Every fix is recorded with the test that confirmed it.
- The test is always the device doing its real job.
FAQ
Questions, answered.
Short, direct answers. If yours is missing, the full FAQ page has more.
AGI for devices covers the software side of hardware: setup, drivers, updates, accounts, permissions, printers, peripherals, network configuration, data migration, backups and the documentation of the estate. Zeus AGI reads the device state, fixes what the evidence names and verifies by using the device. Physical faults are diagnosed and handed to a repair professional with the evidence attached. The scope follows the interface, not a model list. The evidence stays with you.
Yes. The agent can configure the account, drivers, updates, software, storage and backup path, then test the machine with the work it will actually do. The setup is documented so the next machine can follow the same build. You still own the accounts and the decisions about what the machine is for; the agent owns the configuration and the check that it worked. The record makes the next setup faster.
Often. The agent reads startup items, storage health, memory pressure, background load and the settings that influence performance. It removes or reconfigures the cause the evidence points to and compares the behaviour under the same conditions. If the cause is a failing drive or insufficient memory for the work, it says so instead of selling a cleanup that cannot solve it. The measurement is the difference between slow and broken.
It can work on the software side: account and profile setup, data migration, backup checks, configuration and the documentation of what moved. It does not physically repair a device, bypass a manufacturer’s security or recover data from failed storage. Where a mobile task depends on a carrier or a platform policy, that boundary is stated before the work starts. The data movement is checked on both ends.
It can gather the evidence of one: the symptoms, the logs, the device state, the tests that fail and the conditions in which they fail. That diagnosis is often enough to book the right repair or make a warranty claim without a round of guessing. It cannot replace the component, so the repair itself stays with a technician. A good diagnosis is already most of the repair.
Yes. The agent runs local-first on your Windows machine and works on the devices you connect or permit. Accounts, files and configuration stay under your control, and you choose which model providers are used for reasoning. Remote devices are reached only with access you grant, and every change is recorded in the evidence log. Local-first is the default for device work.
It cannot repair failed hardware, bypass security or licensing, recover data from storage that is physically dying, or act inside a manufacturer’s warranty and carrier systems. It does not guess at a fault to look useful. Those limits are named in the report so you can take the right next step with the right professional rather than paying for another round of software attempts. Knowing where the line sits is part of the value. The evidence is the handover.
BEYOND THIS
This is one example. The next domain is a request away.
Zeus AGI acquires the skills it needs and connects MCP servers, so the scope is not a fixed feature list. If the work is digital or device based, it is in scope.
Describe the device. I will find the layer.
Tell me what the machine is doing and what you have already tried. Zeus AGI will read the state, fix the software side and show you the test that proves it. Devices are one domain of twenty, and the list is not the limit.
